For REHAU, "Air Management" means providing efficient air distribution within the vehicle's interior and ensuring that the air-conditioning system directs the entire flow of air to where it is really needed, i.e., to the vehicle occupants.
The following highlights characterize the Air Management business unit.
One-stop Solutions
Development and Design The close integration and spatial concentration of the Development, Design, and Process Engineering units and our in-house tool and die shop enable us to provide production-oriented solutions with an optimum cost/benefit ratio.
Calculation and simulation Efficient component configuration is based on the results of simulations, particularly at the early design stage.
Tests and trials In the Air Management test area, we examine our systems' leakage rates, acoustics, and thermal properties and lay the foundations for effective component optimization.
Production process REHAU produces molded parts using injection molding, extrusion blow molding, and a number of special processes developed in-house.
Innovations
Air ducts with thermal installation Reduction of thermal losses in the air distribution system through the use of newly developed materials, thereby achieving a faster response from the air-conditioning system in order to increase driver and passenger comfort.
Air ducts with acoustic insulation To achieve satisfying acoustics in the vehicle interior, REHAU offers insulation/absorption concepts for air distribution components.
REHAU-Material Expertise in PP/PPA Blends
The best-known and most established standard materials in the blow molding sector are PE + PP types. In addition to these, we have developed special blends for more demanding requirements relating to component properties, such as crush resistance, heat deflection temperature, and flexibility. We promote these blends with all the necessary expertise in the corresponding processes, materials, and applications.
Air Ducts as Design Elements
Extrusion blow molded air duct components with superbly grained surfaces in colors that match the vehicle's interior trim, which serve to integrate the functions of the air ducts and the interior panels.
